The story of the common genesis of the three Viennese residents, Paer, Mayr, and Beethoven, in Gaveaux&#8217;s librettist Bouilly and his enthralled fan Empress Therese is well-told in John A. Rice&#8217;s 2003\u00a0<em><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cambridge.org\/catalogue\/catalogue.asp?isbn=9780521825122\">Empress Marie Therese and Music at the Viennese Court, 1792-1807<\/a><\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>It was Paer&#8217;s setting that provided the music that power&#8217;s Parker &amp; Paer&#8217;s 2012 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCfcnwl5yRv4RJAtEj77UkcQ\"><em><strong>A Roadkill Opera<\/strong><\/em><\/a>, which had its premiere under the direction of Maestro Jeffrey Dokken at the Mead Theatre Lab at Flashpoint in Washington, DC in January 2016, followed by a performance of highlights by the Symphony Orchestra of Northern Virginia at the James Lee Community Theater in Falls Church, Virginia in October 2016.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1177\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1177\" style=\"width: 2880px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1177\" src=\"https:\/\/aroadkillopera.com\/test\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/7thGenerationOperaARoadkillOpera.jpg\" alt=\"Banner showing seven generation history of Leonora\/Fidelio\" width=\"2880\" height=\"9600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/aroadkillopera.com\/test\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/7thGenerationOperaARoadkillOpera.jpg 2880w, https:\/\/aroadkillopera.com\/test\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/7thGenerationOperaARoadkillOpera-90x300.jpg 90w, https:\/\/aroadkillopera.com\/test\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/7thGenerationOperaARoadkillOpera-768x2560.jpg 768w, https:\/\/aroadkillopera.com\/test\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/7thGenerationOperaARoadkillOpera-307x1024.jpg 307w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 2880px) 100vw, 2880px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1177\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The seven generations of <strong>Leonore<\/strong> began with Gaveaux&#8217;s 1798 <strong>Leonore<\/strong>, followed by Paer&#8217;s 1804 <strong>Leonora<\/strong>, Mayr&#8217;s 1805 <strong>L&#8217;amor coniugale<\/strong>, and Beethoven&#8217;s three versions (beginning in 1805) of <strong>Leonora\/Fidelio<\/strong>, and culminating in Parker &amp; Paer&#8217;s 2012 <strong>A Roadkill Opera<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Ryan Brown, artistic director and conductor of Opera Lafayette, kicks things off on February 19, 2017, at Lisner Auditorium. Antony Walker, artistic director and conductor of Washington Concert Opera, follows up at Lisner on March 5, 2017.
