A Roadkill Opera<\/strong>, the underground opera sensation that had its world premiere performances in January 2016 at the Mead Theatre Lab at Flashpoint in Washington DC, will be presented and accompanied by the Symphony Orchestra of Northern Virginia (SONOVA) for two shows on Friday, October 21, 2016, at the James Lee Community Theater in Falls Church, Virginia. Laura Wehrmeyer and David Timpane, who have been with\u00a0A Roadkill Opera<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0from the very first workshop at Artomatic 2012 in Crystal City, will return in the roles they created in the world premiere performances in January 2016 at the\u00a0Mead Theatre Lab at Flashpoint<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0in Washington DC. Laura and David also performed the roles\u00a0of Holly and Stephan, respectively,\u00a0in the 2013 studio recording.\u00a0Also returning from the world premiere cast are Alex Miletich IV and Christopher Dews. The four returning cast members are joined by\u00a0Kelly Curtin<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Larry Boggs<\/a>. These six dynamic entertainers will be accompanied by the Symphony Orchestra of Northern Virginia (SONOVA) under the direction of Jeffrey Dokken.<\/p>\n

The Symphony Orchestra of Northern Virginia (SONOVA) will present two FREE performances of A Roadkill Opera<\/strong> at 7:00 and 8:30 pm on Friday, October 21, 2016 at the James Lee Community Theater in Falls Church, Virginia<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The studio recording of\u00a0A Roadkill Opera<\/strong>\u00a0<\/em>was released on July 4, 2013, on Amazon.com and subsequently on\u00a0\u00a0CD Baby<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0AmazonMP3<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0and\u00a0iTunes<\/a><\/strong>. It is now available worldwide on nearly all platforms. This comic opera with music in the style of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is recommended for fans of PDQ Bach, “Weird Al” Yankovic, Tom Lehrer, and The Rutles–but only if you like classical music with infectious hooks.<\/p>\n

Though not nominated, the studio recording of\u00a0A Roadkill Opera<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/a>got the creative team\u00a0invited to the\u00a0GRAMMYs<\/a><\/strong>, which they\u00a0attended in February 2015. Which led to the January 2016 world premiere, fully staged performances (with sold-out houses) at the\u00a0Mead Theatre Lab at Flashpoint<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0in Washington DC.<\/p>\n

The opera is new: the story is set in 1988 in the hour before the first professional gig for a comedy improv troupe in Jackson Hole\u2014the\u00a0Roadkill On A Stick Frozen Foods Theatre Company<\/a><\/strong>. The music is classical\u2013from the 1804\u00a0Leonora<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0by Ferdinando Paer, one of Beethoven\u2019s direct competitors.<\/p>\n
