Music from 1804. Action set in 1988. A new opera (in just 89 minutes)

Music from 1804 by Ferdinando Paer
Libretto by Stephan Alexander Parker
Jeffrey Dokken, Music Director & Conductor

A Roadkill Opera is a mashup of a backstage screwball comedy set in 1988 Wyoming with music from Ferdinando Paer’s 1804 opera Leonora. It tells the story of the hour before the lights go up on opening night for the first professional gig for an amateur improv sketch comedy troupe–the Roadkill On A Stick Frozen Foods Theatre Company–at the legendary Silver Dollar Bar in the Wort Hotel in Jackson Hole. During that hour, they find out their showroom will be torn down after their run. Hilarity ensues.

The full studio album has been remastered from the 2013 CD release. It is presented on three sides of this two-disc LP set.

Improv sketch comedy recorded live in 1988 Wyoming

Frozen Roadkills on a Stick & Cod Piece Dining Room sketches written by Ed Bachtel
Jackson Hole written & performed by Dave Rohrer

The comedy troupe had a one-night-only Greatest Hits! show on Friday the 13th, March 1992, at the Pink Garter Theatre. Here for the first time are presented the studio version of Dave Rohrer’s wistful song Jackson Hole; live highlights from the 1992 comedy show; and a bonus live excerpt from the October 2016 production of A Roadkill Opera at the James Lee Community Theater in Falls Church, Virginia, as presented by the Symphony Orchestra of Northern Virginia (SONOVA).
